    General Considerations

    If a suspicious substance is discovered or reported, notify a supervisor or someone in the Main Library Administration Office. If unavailable, report the circumstances to the Occupational Safety & Environmental Health Office, 231-7759 or University Police (231-).

    1. Be prepared to give specifics such as building name, room number, person(s)injured.
    2. Keep patrons and other employees away from the substance.
    3. If instructed by someone in authority, evacuate the building.
    4. After the emergency is under control, fill out the NDSU Incident Report Form, and be certain others who assisted also fill out a copy. Give the report to the Administrative Assistant within 24 hours.

    Biological Hazards

    If staff open a letter or package with powder, other "suspicious" substance, or written statement the item contains a harmful substance:
